Union Cabinet granted to establish two semiconductor units in Sanand & Dholera of Ahmedabad District
Construction of the Semiconductor ATMP Unit in Sanand and of Semiconductor Fabrication Unit in Dholera will be start within the next 100 days
with ₹91,000 crore investment, Semiconductor fabrication unit in Dholera will be set up by Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation of Taiwan
Semiconductor ATMP Unit in Sanand will be set up by a joint venture of C.G. Power, Renesas Electronics Corporation of Japan, and Stars Micro Electronics Thailand with ₹7600 crore investment
In Dholera of Ahmedabad District, Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd. and Taiwanese company Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation will jointly set up a plant, with the cumulative investment of ₹91 thousand crore. This plant will have manufacture capacity of 50,000 semiconductor wafers per month. Such semiconductor chips are consumed in various sectors such as power management, defense, automotive, electric vehicles(EV) and telecommunications. Meanwhile, Renesas Electronics Corporation-Japan, CG Power and Stars Micro Electronics-Thailand are ready to initiate the construction of a semiconductor ATMP plant at Sanand, ahmedabad with an investment of ₹7600 crore. It is know that the Semiconductor ATMP plant by Semicon is already under construction in Sanand tehsil of Ahmedabad district. With the approval of this another ATMP plan, Sanand will witness the operation of two semiconductor ATMP plants. Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the ATMP plant of Semicon Company In July 2023 at Sanand. Within three months of the MOU between Micron and the government, the land was ready for the laying stone ceremony which ensure fast track processing of businesses in the state of Gujarat.
As a development of the PM’s Semiconductor Mission and Gujarat’s Semiconductor Policy 2022-27, developed under the guidance of the Chief Minister of the state, three semiconductor units are set to be established in Gujarat. Gujarat stands as the pioneering state of the country to enact the separate policy for semiconductor industry. Initiated under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel, government of Gujarat introduced the semiconductor policy in the month of July 2022.
It is important to note that during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2024(VGGS 2024), themed “Gateway to the Future,” held in January 2024, a particular focus was laid on emerging sectors such as semiconductors, EV, Green mobility etc. The summit featured dedicated seminars focusing on semiconductors, EVs, Green mobility, Renewable energy and electronics. Additionally, Gujarat hosted the Semicon India exhibition in July 2023 last year. With the fast paced establishment of plants by globally recognized semiconductor manufacturing companies in the state of Gujarat, the state is ready to make a Quantum leap in the promising semiconductor sector. This development in the sector of semiconductor is attributed to the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Fast paced speed of businesses development is possible easily in Gujarat, because Gujarat is a Policy Driven State. It has separate policy for semiconductor industry development. Benchmarks established by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi along With the proactive policies, good governance, single window clearance system, favorable environment for industries in Gujarat, it attracts businesses around the globe. More employment opportunities will be created by set up of these 3 Semiconductor plants in Sanand & Dholera. At the same time, world-class infrastructure will be developed in the areas around Sanand & Dholera. The state government is trying hard to realize the Prime Minister’s vision of a self-reliant Gujarat. Gujarat will be in top position in semiconductor business of the country in upcoming days. There is a determination to prepare for new technologies and new fields in the coming time in this state.
